Mumpreneur Profile: Nanette of Lily Rose Designs

Hi My name is Nanette. I’m 29 years old, I’m married and have a little girl Lily-Rose who is 2years old.
I took 9 months maternity leave but knew I had to go back to work to pay the bill etc. My daughter received some ‘Reindeer Magic Food’ for Christmas last year. It was good but just had a feeling that I could do something like this but with a twist.
My mum has always good at making up poems: she did a poem for my daughters Christening so I knew I was on to something. I researched everywhere to see if they was another company that did this sort of thing and 8 months down line I still can’t find a direct competitor. We now have many personalised gifts on sale – we specialise in our one-one- approach.
I find it hard working 3 days a week, running the business from home, as well as looking after my family & the home. But I really wouldn’t change it for the world. Running Lily-Rose Designs makes me feel normal again, if you can relate to that.
I am hoping that I will soon be able to leave work & devote all my working time to Lily-Rose Designs. Fingers crossed this wont be to long away. The only advise I can offer to someone wanting to open there own business is ‘stick at it’. Working late nights till 2am will all pay off in the end.
