Millions of parents to be able to request family-friendly flexible working

3 December 2008 No Comment

There has been some debate about whether delaying the extension to the right to request flexible working would help during the recession. Fortunately the Government has seen sense. It seems that Yvette Cooper has been sticking up for the rights of working parents with children up to the age of 16 to ask to alter thair working hours.

Flexible working can take the pressure off the family and is, in fact, a great way to incentivise employees at a time when the business doesn’t have cash for bonuses. It can make a business more efficient, with more staff at busy times when they are needed.

Read more about flexible working in the Queen’s speech here, and find out more about how flexible working can benefit employers and employees even in a recession here and here.
