10 December 2008 No Comment

Name of Business: Get Frocked Clothing Exchange

Tell us about your family: David (husband 43, Annie 11, Alfie 6, Archie 1) My ‘A’ team!!!

When did you launch? October 2008

How did you go about getting started? inspiration from Twiggys Frock Exchange and feedback from the women of York, bought loads of clothes rails, hangers, mirrors and Nikki’s boyfriend made some beautiful screens for women to get changed behind and held our first event in Haxby

What has worked well about your business? The enthusiasm from our fellow frockers

What has been your biggest challenge so far? How have you dealt with it?

Not having the resources to advertise so unfortunatley not everyone knows about it. We have sent flyers out, advertised in PO windows, advertised it on facebook and having our frockers to spread the word.  If we had the budget to advertise I think it would be fantastic.  I have been on Radio York twice, and had a feature in the Local Paper but we need to make more people aware of it!!!! Its a great and fun way to swap

How do you fit in work with the family?

Katie and Nikki of Get Frocked

With great difficulty. Most of my networking is on a morning when my little boy is asleep and my other children are at school and I am quite nocturnal and most of my inspiration comes late on at night

What advice would you give to someone else wanting to work in this area?

Go For it, its great fun but a lot of hardwork and you need to be committed!!! (or admitted not sure which) Once I get my teeth into something I dont let go, I love challenges!!! Although this is a new business,  and relatively quiet I intend it be a success, I do not fail, and if I do, I pick myself up again and start again.
