Looking for a Local Job? New Local Jobs Websites Launched
A survey by Careers4London.com reveals 98 per cent of Brits would prefer a local job with under an hour’s commute. Increased fuel prices, issues with poor public transport, congestion charges and the cost of running a car for a long daily commute, not to mention the impact this has on work/life balance and the environment, is forcing people to re-think the location of their workplace. And if you have to fit in work round the school run a job nearby is even more important.
David Green at Careers4London.com explains, “Personal time is precious, particularly for people with families and childcare obligations, and that, coupled with the sky-high fuel prices only makes localised jobs more appealing for workers.”
The site covers a wide range of industry sectors including technology, legal, HR, marketing, management, construction and engineering. Unlike many other large recruitment search engines, the goal of the Careers4 sites is to match skills accurately to relevant positions in the local area. Candidates CVs are made available to potential employers in a targeted and focused manner and are only sent to those employers that are actively seeking personnel, as opposed to being sent out to every employer in a ‘blanket-style’ fashion.
