Writing for a Living: Antonia’s Tips

5 August 2009 No Comment

More thoughts about why you need to have your business head on when planning to write for a living.

If you think writing is all about creativity, inspiration and great thoughts, well, you are right in one way. But if you are writing for a living you need to transfer some of your deep thinking to planning out your business. Few writers ask for funding to get their business started which means that few come up with a business plan, which is a shame. Make yourself write a business plan, whether you have to or not. It is a great way to ask yourself some hard questions about why you are going into business, and what the aims and objectives are for the business. If you feel unsure about how to create a plan, get the free ‘guide to writing a business plan’ download from PRBasics. It is one of the most useful things I’ve written! There is also a section all about business planning in The Mumpreneur Guide’s Start Your Own Business book which will help. The book will be available from the end of this month.
