Book Review: I’m Glad I Spent More Time At Work by Lynne Copp

11 November 2009 No Comment

I’m Glad I Spent More Time at Work!: The A to Z of Worklife Balance for Organisationsis a useful and practical read read for anyone looking to improve the way their business manages employees work life balance. Coach Lynne Copp starts the book by explaining “worklife balance is not some ‘touchy-feely-nice-to-have-for-parents’ idea: this is bottom line business sense for everyone!” This got the book off to a great start for me. I was slightly concerned before starting to read it that it was an ‘A to Z’. While this sort of structure works for some books it can also force the author into artificial divisions. Copp, however, uses the A to Z structure very well, managing to come up with inspiration on every letter, even the challenging X … which she makes stand for eXciting, X-shaped and Xenophobic! As a more regular example, under W she covers Wellbeing, Women and Workload, all critical to work life balance.

I’m Glad I Spent More Time at Work! is a slim volume packed with inspration and practical ideas and ranks highly in my selection of useful books about working practices. It costs £7.99.
