Toy Review: VTech Storio
We’re really enjoying using the Vtech Storio. J, 5, is still learning to read but loves books and is pleased that he can now have a story, even if no-one is free to read to him. He says it is, “Really good and you can also play games on it.”
DH helped him set it up. He says, “It is a really good idea, but all the spellings and letters are in capital letters which is confusing for a child learning using phonics at school. … add in the American accent and it takes a while to be able to play the spelling games if you’re only learning!” That isn’t a major gripe, though.
Each new story costs around £17, making them more expensive than Leapfrog Tag stories (check our review of the Leapfrog Tag (PLEASE LINK) if you want to compare). I feel there is additional value with the games over the Tag books, and these still cost less than many DS games. I think this would make a great Christmas gift this year for 4-7 year olds.
Last year we also looked at the VTech Media Desktop which has been a great toy and J has explored and learnt lots from over the last year.
The Vtech Storio costs £39.99 from Toys R Us and new ‘books’ for it cost around £17.
