What did you do before coming up with your business idea and how was it making the transition?: Have always worked in this field but only on a very part time ad-hoc basis, am now trying to build up the business to become my main source of income.
When did you launch?: I started working in childcare over 15 years ago. Launched East Midlands Night Nanny & Babysitter as a brand/business in 2011.
How did you get started?: Working as a babysitter & mother’s help whilst I was at school/college/uni.
What research did you do before launching?: Researched existing providers of the childcare services I offer, researched low cost/no cost marking tools.
How have you funded the business?: Personal savings

What has worked best?: Facebook is increasing awareness, adverts on childcare websites such as nannyjob.co.uk and mumsnet.co.uk, findababysitter.co.uk have also provided me with work. Then there is always the well-known Gumtree.com for nanny jobs.
What has been your biggest challenge so far? How have you dealt with it?: Having enough money for advertising/marketing.
How do you fit in work with the family?: I try to work eves & nights to minimise impact on my son. I also do some weekend work, my husband looks after our son if required which isnt a problem. Occasionally I do daytime work if families are OK with me taking my son with me.
