Book Review: Read and Soar: For Those Who Want to Fly, by Yomi Akinpelu

51Gy98MD1oL__SL160_If you love books & reading enough to want to pass on your obsession to the next generation, then Read and Soar: For Those Who Want to Fly is the book for you. For many reading is a passion that ignites something deep inside them. It consumes them to the point that readers can form stronger relationships with fiction than with real people.

This book tries to capture that energy and inspiration that true bibliophiles experience and allow us to sparkle it on babies, children and young people. In fact the beginning of the book is set out to answer the one question that matters, “Why read?” It spends seven good chapters providing reasons such as; it will educate you, enhance writing skills, inspire you and enrich your lives more than anything else that we will do. Reading is truly a life-changing activity.

The final chapters of the book look towards the other side of the reading coin. How do you get children and young adults to read, and what else can you do with reading? Unfortunately the section on libraries maybe of declining importance, but the reading of books is especially bright with the advent of electronic books which can be provided on computers, e-readers and mobile phones.

To provide a book that tries to inspire me to read it would have no use in my life. I am a committed reader and if you understand the power and enjoyment that reading can provide your offspring then this is the book for you. This book does not give you the world of reading; it unlocks the door and throws it off its hinges.
