My company name is Ice Jewellery and I established my business back in 2003. I branched out into party plan nearly 4 years ago but have only recently expanded my business UK wide. The original idea came to me whilst at home just after the birth of my first son. I wanted to be a stay at home mum but needed to have some adult conversation and earn a good income at the same time. I thought that I could work in the evenings so not to miss out on looking after my son but my only experience was in the retail jewellery industry where I had worked for the past 20 years. I’m also amazed from adinasjewels idea of putting initial on a necklace which further inspired me to pursue my own jewelry business.
I thought about the party plan industry but didn’t know of a jewellery company that provided this service so decided to set up my own. One of my friends offered to hold a party for me so I put together a range of items from our retail shop and displayed them all for her guests to see. I walked away with £650 worth of orders and 2 further party bookings. From then on I knew that party plan was the way go.
Since then I have had another son (I gave birth 2 days after a jewellery party!) and am now recruiting consultants across the UK. I have worked hard on the business model and feel that I can now offer a fantastic business package to anyone (like me) that wants to achieve their goals but still be a stay at home mum. I offer a party plan opportunity to suit any busy parent as it fits perfectly round the family environment. A consultant would carry out parties, fundraisers, events etc (mainly in the evenings) by bringing a selection of our fabulous Sterling Silver jewellery ranges and Charm beads to the clients home, business, event venue etc. Customers then place orders from viewing the consultants sample kit or from our full colour catalogues. All orders are then delivered 7-10 days later. The consultant can earn up to 30% commission on all her sales plus I regularly hold incentives and competitions so they can gain additions to their kit and win fabulous prizes.
An average party lasts around 2 hours (including setting up and putting away) so it depends on how many parties the consultant wishes to do a week to determine their hours. Customer calls and advertising fit in and around the family day so minimal time is needed for these. Word of mouth is the best advertising and that takes no time at all and its free!
An average consultant carries out 2 parties a week and spends around 2 hours on advertising, customer calls etc. so in all spends an average of 6 hours a week partying. She earns as an average of £750 a month in commission.
As a Ice Jewellery consultant you would need to have a pleasant outgoing personality, be able to talk & listen easily to people and be self motivated to succeed. Consultants would need access to a phone, the internet (ideal but not essential) and have a car. Selling experience is an advantage but again not essential as full training is provided.

Initial Start up Costs:
In order to start their own jewellery business consultants are asked to purchase a starter kit which is £149. This contains £350 of our best selling jewellery pieces that sell repeatedly for our consultants and all the stationary, display etc to get them partying straight away.
Ongoing monthly costs:
£5 per party for a hostess pack containing invitations, hostess planner, 2 x catalogues, 1 x order form and a hostess gift valued at £25. No other costs involved. The hostess will receive 15% commission in goods from the orders that her guests place. We supply this jewellery free of charge, unlike other party plan companies the consultant does not have to contribute.
Full training on initial sign up as a consultant with a comprehensive training manual. Each consultant would attend a party with another consultant (if required) to see the party process live. They would then have ongoing training via the website (downloadable training material, videos, worksheets etc.) and through their local area manager. Meetings are held on a quarterly basis where possible.
I am personally always at the end of the phone or computer! All the area managers offer continued support and help with advertising ideas etc. throughout any consultants journey. All my consultants are friendly and are happy to help other consultants achieve their goals.
