Writing Your Book: What’s Stopping You?

Suzy GreavesSuzy Greaves set my on my journey to becoming an entrepreneur and author, and she’s an amazing person to work with. Next month, if you have always wanted to write a book, Suzy has an amazing course to help you. She writes, “I went to see Elizabeth Gilbert last night. Author of the beautiful bestselling memoir Eat, Pray, Love (now a film with Julia Roberts), Elizabeth was being interviewed by Paul Holdengräber, director of Public Programmes at New York Library. Despite being at the sold out Cadogan Hall, in Chelsea, I felt like I was in a bar, eavesdropping on their conversation.

The evening was magical, inspiring, and intimate. Liz Gilbert didn’t disappoint – she was open, funny, authentic and you just wanted to adopt her as your best friend.

Probably one of the reasons why Gilbert’s story has been a smash hit. But also because it takes us on an epic journey from misery to healing.  A ‘hungry ghost’ at the beginning of her pilgrimage, Gilbert goes looking for fulfilment, love, peace – and pizza. And like the stories we like best, she found them. She met God and became one with the universe and then found love, ate piles of pizza and now much to her surprise has settled down in New Jersey to do some gardening!

One of the things she talked about that excited me the most was the power of storytelling – and how we are all searching for a beginning, middle and end of our stories and when we can tell our own story – and make sense of it, there is great healing.

I hope so! I’m in the midst of writing my third book The Big Love experiment and currently in rather a state of confusion and procrastination about my own story and where it’s going. Which is why I’ve decided to have a creative October and get the book really shaped up. And I wondered if there were any writers/budding writers who would like to join me in seeing if we can write a book in 21 days?!

The idea is to give each other support, get inspired, create motivation to get the first draft of our books finished and out on the page.

When? From 1st to 21st of October:

What’s involved?

  • Daily writing target of 2000 words a day every day for 21 days.
  • Join the community of writers on ourbiglife.com
  • Daily inspirational emails
  • Inspirational recorded author interviews.
  • 4 Teleclasses led by Suzy Greaves on unblocking the creative flow when we get stuck, inspiring ideas, writing exercises and live coaching plus authors talking live about how they write.
  • Teleclass Dates: 1st October, 4th October, 11th October, 18th October.

All will be recorded so you can listen to recordings if you can’t make it.

My latest book is the most personal book I’ve ever written so I’m finding the procrastination factor is high! So if you want to join the most accomplished procrastinator around, then click here for all the details.
