Book Review: The Tooth Collectors

3 March 2011 No Comment

A review by Marylou Holdway aged 8

I got this book on 2nd February 2011. I thought it was fabulous that I read it in one day!

I thought it was well written & illustrated
It was funny and exciting I would definitely read more
Ruben thought his mum & dad put money under his pillow.

He woke up that night and saw the tooth collectors.

They shrank him to their own size.

They went to Dentalia were they live to get money.

They collected all the teeth but, then it was nearly 5.00!

If they did not bring Ruben to his room he would be small forever!

They managed to bring him home but they needed one more tooth.

But they forgot Ruben’s tooth and he got £3.

Written by Deputy Head Teacher, mother, wife and entrepreneur Ola Laniyan-Amoaka, The Tooth Collectors is a new book that is set to enchant children aged 3 to 8 years old, across the country.

The Tooth Collectors is an imaginative and magical tale about Ruben, an 8 year-old boy who is awoken in the middle of the night by two tooth collectors. The book tells the story of Cole, Rosy, Kareem, Kadijah and many other tooth collectors from Dentalia, in an exciting adventure that illustrates the importance of cleaning teeth properly.

The story is beautifully illustrated by Daniel Tarrant. It comes with an accompanying audio book, making it perfect to capture young imaginations at bedtime, on long journeys or even for groups to follow the story together.

To coincide with the release of the book, a competition is also being launched to give readers who have been inspired by the book the opportunity to create their very own Tooth Collector and win prizes each month, including iPods, arts and craft goodies and a special visit from the author to school or library.

To enter the competition, learn more about The Tooth Collectors, download fun activities and find out more about how to look after teeth, readers can go to the interactive website at www.toothcollectors.com

The Tooth Collectors and accompanying audio book, by Ola Laniyan-Amoako and illustrated by Daniel Tarrant is out now. Priced £9.99 it is available to buy from Urbantopia.co.uk, Amazon.co.uk and Waterstone’s.
