While lots of Hastings  Mums are focusing on getting the kids back to school next week, a growing number also see September as a chance to get back to business. The local Mums Business Club has child friendly networking meetings with a new venue in Hastings coming up this term:

  • Networking Bexhill: Tuesday 6th September, 9.30-11.00: Kerry’s, Marina, Bexhill
  • Networking St Leonards: Tuesday 4th October,  10.00-11.30 The Roomz, 33 Western Avenue, St Leonards
  • Networking Hastings :Tuesday 8th November,  10.00-11.30 Eat @12 Claremont, Hastings

Local mum Antonia Chitty started the group to provide supportive networking for mums who want to be able to combine work and family. She says, “Formal breakfast or evening networking doesn’t work for lots of business mums: Mums Business Club allows mums to network, swap referrals, give each other support and have a coffee and chat in an atmosphere where children are welcome, at a time that fits with the school or nursery drop off. We’re pleased to now have venues in Hastings, St Leonards and Bexhill giving even more mums the chance to attend. ”

Member Katy Corby-Eaglen of  www.oddbods1066.co.uk says, “Thanks to the Mums Business Club I have a birthday book sorted for my son, fleece socks sorted for my friend’s Xmas present and a pair to keep my toes toastie around the house. In fact at this rate I could have my Xmas shopping done by September, and I forgot to say that I completed my first job today that I gained through this group.”

A number of local business mums will also be heading over to Brighton next month for the BusinessMums Summit, a high profile all day event packed with learning, inspiration and more networking. Antonia is part of the team running this event too and says, “With high profile speakers such as Kate Garraway and practical workshops, the BusinessMums Summit is a great day out. We’re hoping to match last year’s 260 attendees so it is a great event to attend if you want to meet more women in business”

The BusinessMums meet monthly for supportive networking in a child-friendly atmosphere at a time that fits with school and pre-school drop offs. Meetings cost £5 including tea or coffee. The BusinessMums Summit is on Monday 10th October at the Thistle Hotel, Brighton. Tickets are available from www.businessmumssummit.co.uk
