Marketing: Getting to Know Your Audience

Let’s back up a bit, what about if you’re not sure of what your core message is? Or maybe you’re not very clear on who your target market is? That’s ok. Well, I mean it’s ‘ok’ to accept that now and do something to change all that!

The key to effective marketing is knowing your audience, I mean REALLY knowing your audience. Do you know what makes your audience tick? What they do at the weekend? What they eat for breakfast? This might sound a little bit stalker, but really, the more you know about your audience the more you can start to think like them, and once you can think like them you can start fulfilling their needs and wants, and that’s really what successful marketing is all about.

You can get to know your audience more by researching. On a birds eye level you can do research into the size of markets and the demographics (age, sex etc) of a market. Then you can zoom in and get the more personal details by surveying them.

Market research doesn’t have to be complicated and once you’ve learned the skills once you have them to use forever.
