Book Review: Three Christmassy Books for kids

I know, don’t hate me … but I’m writing about Christmas. I’ve just been sent some really good Christmassy books, though, and thought it was worth sharing these now in case you want some stocking filler ideas.

There are some timeless classics for my boys – the Mr Men series is one, and Thomas the Tank Engine is another. And my kids really enjoy a seasonal special from their favourite characters. We already have a couple of Mr Men Christmas books – one where Little Miss Christmas has to do all the wrapping as Mr Christmas goes off for a holiday in Little Miss Christmas – so it was great to get the Mr. Men Meet Father Christmas Looking at the cover, there are now plenty of seasonal Mr Men stories – it’s great to see some of our favourite characters getting more than one outing.

We’ve also got Snowy Tracks (Thomas & Friends), a typical Thomas tale where lazy engines struggle, Thomas rides to the rescue, with the help of Rocky, and (Spoiler alert) the delivery gets through on time. I love the Island of Sodor covered in snow, and little Thomas fans everywhere will enjoy this familiar tale.

Our final Christmassy pick is a new one to me. We’ve watched Everything’s Rose on TV – now you can read the books. The Last Snowball is going to be a great help to any child who’s sad when the snow has gone. Rosie and her fur and fabric friends try to help Big bear who slept through the snow.

Now I’m off to hide these books before the boys spot them – they are going to go very nicely in the stockings!

Disclosure: We were sent these books by the publisher.
