Mumpreneur Profile: Debbie of South Hill Designs

Debbie Kean 10-2013Name of Business:  South Hill Designs with Debbie Kean

Your Name and Age:  Debbie Kean, 48

Tell us about your family:  I have been married to my wonderful husband for the last 14 years.  Between us, we have 2 daughters and a son, and we have the most adorable granddaughter and a grandson on the way.  We share our home with 2 crazy dogs as well as 2 cats who showed up in our backyard one day and decided to make us their family.

What did you do before coming up with your business idea and how was it making the transition?  I have been involved in direct sales, also known as party-plan, for a number of years, and I always knew there was incredible potential to make a very good living, but I had never quite got the hang of it.  Then about 16 months ago, I stumbled upon a brand new company with a product line that had never been done before, I knew I had just discovered a gold mine.

springWhen did you launch?  South Hill Designs introduced itself to the marketplace in the United States in October 2012, and I launched my business with them in November 2012.

What’s your favourite thing about running your own business:  My favorite thing about having my own business is the freedom and flexibility it affords me.  I can work as much or as little as I desire.  It allows me to take time to enjoy life as well as the fruits of my labor, but the very best part is probably the fact that it doesn’t feel like I’m working because I love what I do so much.

What’s the thing you least enjoy about running your own business:  The think I like least about my business would probably be when I have to shut my computer down so that I can get some sleep.

friendsHow do you fit in work with the family? Is your partner supportive of your business?  I find it very easy to fit in work with family because I set my own schedule.  I have set days and times in which I will do the party plan part of the business and when I will do the other things like work with my team on mentoring and coaching, marketing, etc.  My spouse is so very supportive of my business; he even attends vendor events with me and talks to people about the business.

Are you working towards a financial goal for your business?  I am working towards a financial goal.  I hope to eliminate our family debt and create a retirement portfolio that will allow us to live a generous and comfortable lifestyle in our golden years.

1604756_10201486267939554_131388682_nWould you ever give up your business to do something else?  At this point in time, I cannot imagine giving up my business for any reason other than to retire to a life of leisure when I reach retirement age.

Have you had your ‘I’ve made it’ moment?  Tell us about it.  If not when do you think it will come:  Each time I promote to the next rank, I experience a little bit of “I’ve made it” because I set a goal to attain that ranking and made it.  I will have a huge “I’ve made it” moment when I accomplish 2 things, achieving the rank of National Director and when I consistently earn a 5-figure monthly income.

Where do you hope to be in five years time?  In 5 years, I plan to be a National Director earning a 5-figure monthly income and spending my time helping other women and men achieve their dreams and goals with South Hill Designs.

If you have a flexible working business opportunity, please explain briefly what you offer and how people find out more.  If you are interested in a flexible work schedule in which you set your own hours, determine your own monthly income, and would love to be your own boss, I would love to help you achieve your dreams.  I have the tools, knowledge, and experience to help you achieve your desired level of success.  Simply send me an email, call me, or send me a message on Facebook.
