I’m a 43yr old married Mum of 2 young daughters,  with a very supportive husband who is always been a huge strength to me and gives me so much encouragement. We livein a lovely part of the south coast, Hayling Island. I have 23 years experience in logistics, managing various sites locally before taking a less involved roll when the girls where born. I met my husband there. I always had a passion for wanting to run my own business.

I love beautiful things and struggled to find nice outfits for special occasions for my girls especially their Christenings. As they grew it was other occasions that made me realize that it was more difficult to buy something that little bit special. So the seed was sown for Eliza Mabel

After being made redundant in October 2012 I felt it was time to do something for myself that I could start from home with the girls and build the brand and business up from here. So Eliza Mabel was born back in October 2012. Its been just over a year since the website went live. With my youngest starting school in Sept it’s given me the flexibility to build the business up from home.

It’s not been easy juggling family life and keeping the work family life balance, and at times especially in the holidays and through sickness. However it’s worked so far and we have managed. It was always a plan to move the business out of the house and get the house back. However I would not change any of this, it’s where I have learnt so much and been able to keep my costs down while building my brand and business.

Quality products appeal to people wanting something different and I feel we offer that. We have a show room planned for the end of this year. Having excellent product photos is crucial to my business. Building good relationships with people, for me Wedding Ideas Magazine and Just Weddings Magazine have both been huge supporters of my business nationally.

The biggest mistake is being too trusting and learning to negotiate better, which has been a real learning curve.

My financial goal has always been that the business would make a good income to support my family for the future, I have lots of plans with my own designs planned for the future and to build my own unique line of clothing that some else will want to stock. So my goals are targets for the next 5 years are not just financial but to succeed in being a big brand that people know and trust.
