If you are self-employed, you will likely spend a lot of time thinking of how to generate attention for your business. Whereas your webpage and social media are important digital strategies that you can focus on from home, there are some traditional ways of promoting your business that you shouldn’t miss. One of them is having a stand at an exhibition  or show relevant to your industry or business sector. Most freshly self-employed entrepreneurs have never been at a business fair before and may wonder about how they should present themselves and how they need to act for establishing a good connection to new business partners or sponsors. Here are some ideas that newcomers should focus on.

Organizing your stand

In the multitude of different stands at an exhibition, it always pays to stand out. Be creative in order to make your corner unique and interesting! Make sure the design of all of your equipment like counters and banners, as well as your printed material, like flyers and leaflets looks alike. Mumpreneurs don’t have to hide

If being a parent is key to your business, having your child by your side gives a personal impression to whatever new person or business partner you might meet.

Don’t let yourself be intimidated

A business fair is the place for everyone to show their expertise. That doesn’t mean that you need to show off. Just remember that it is essential for a successful business communication to act professional and open-minded at the same time. Don’t be shy when meeting business people who seem to have a lot of experience. Open, friendly reactions will prove to be more fruitful than acting in a reserved or hesitant way. If you don’t know something, don’t be afraid to admit it. Your interlocutor will surely appreciate your honesty.
