Great ways to market your business on a budget

A business can offer the best services or products around, yet still fail if no one knows about it. For this reason marketing is fundamental to any company – no matter how small. While medium to large businesses may be able to afford to fund orchestrated marketing campaigns, smaller firms can struggle to establish themselves within their respective markets due to constrained finances. If you fall into this category then you may want to employ a bit of creativity to build a brand on a budget. Here are a few ideas to get you started:

Making sure you have excellent customer service is a cost-free way to leave your mark customers. The power of word of mouth marketing is not to be underestimated – particularly in the social media age. Set up a twitter account to engage with your customers, let them know about any discounts and deals you are offering and hopefully they will help you spread the word.

Keeping your customers up to date on your offering will ensure they think of you when they need a product they know you sell.  You can do this the traditional way via a regular newsletter sent by email to save you funds. Alternatively, you may want to take up the services of one of the many companies that offer SMS marketing services, allowing you to contact customers quickly, cheaply and directly, as and when you have special offers or new services.

Use branded goods with panache. You may want to opt for tried and tested products such as pens to give away as freebies – but try and make them stand out by getting them from professionals such as Ideas by Net. Being a little more creative with the products you choose to give away may cost you a few pence more, but can pay dividends in terms of customers remembering quirky freebies. For instance – why not illuminate your business with the help of a branded torch?

Try running a competition. Giving away your services or products for free can be an inexpensive way to raise your profile and engage with your customers. Use free platforms such as Twitter and Facebook to promote the event and keep your costs to a minimum.
