Tell us about your family – I have been happily married for almost seven years now and have two lovely children. My daughter will be three years old soon and my son is eight months old.
What did you do before coming up with your business idea?
Well, I was and am still a practising medical doctor. I started Evasitters, which is a babysitting agency, when I was pregnant with my daughter and noticed a lack of reliable evening and weekend childcare for parents like me. I did not like the idea of having to pay monthly membership fees for a service I may or may not use monthly, so I founded an agency that helps parents get DBS-checked, trained, insured and reliable babysitters to care for their children in their own home or hotel, just by booking easily online anytime. It is all about quality care, reliability and convenience. Parents pay the same affordable hourly rate any day of the week, no monthly membership fees and no cash payments to babysitters. I still work as a doctor because I love it, and it is great to have variety in my life.
What’s your favourite thing about running your own business?
I love it when parents send fantastic feedback about our babysitters and thank Evasitters for making it possible for them to go out with peace of mind knowing their children are in safe hands. It is so satisfying to be able to provide such a much-needed service, helping parents live happy and balanced lives, while providing work for our lovely staff. I believe that spending quality time with our children is very important, but being able to have time to yourself helps you to be a better parent overall.
How do you fit in work with the family? Is your partner supportive of your business?
My husband is very supportive of all I do. I am so blessed to have him in my life. People always ask how I manage to fit in work, family, business, charity work, writing etc. That is why I wrote my latest book, Life Without Coffee (choosing Happiness Over Stress). I have learned so many things over the years that have helped me to stay focused and do what I want to do in the time I have available – and without drinking coffee! I love the idea of being able to share these to encourage and inspire others. Life Without Coffee is now available to pre-order from Amazon. Printed copies are available from my website. This is my third book and I am excited because it will be launched on my 33rd birthday in Warwick (May 21, 2017). You can read more and subscribe for updates on my website: www.afiniki.co.uk
