Flexible workspace with integrated childcare celebrates crowdfunding success on its first birthday

Cuckooz Nest, London’s flexible workspace with an integrated creche has hit their funding objectives of £100,000, with women still leading the way on investment but a parentally balanced 52% to 48% split between female and male investors.

The brainchild of co-founder and mother Charlie Rosier and her business partner Fabienne O’Neill, Nest looks to overcome the current issues both women and men face when wanting to return from maternity leave at their own pace and was born from the frustrations Charlie faced looking for day care after the birth of her first child.

But it goes beyond childcare with Nest looking to combat the growing issue of maternity loneliness, by providing a space where parents can work, network and readjust to the ‘normality’ of working life, with the addition of on-site flexible childcare to suit their needs.

Having opened their doors almost one year ago, they have already helped over 100 families achieve a better work-life balance and the demand for Nest’s services has been overwhelming, with the business now operating a waiting list.

As a result, Charlie and Fab launched their first crowdfunding campaign to help grow the business and bring the concept to other parts of the city. The second, much larger site is planned to open later this year, where they will be able to care for children up to the age of 5 years.

Those investing upwards of £2,000 are also eligible for free childcare at Nest’s sites – see all rewards thresholds below. But the most notable thing is the volume of women who have invested.

Charlie Rosier, Co-Founder of Cuckooz Nest, commented:

We’re over the moon to have reached our target and on Nest’s first birthday of all days.

Nest is as much about helping fathers as it is mothers, so it’s great to see an even balance of male and female investors. That said, with the issues of returning to work post-birth often impacting more women, we’re glad to see the scales tip slightly in favour of female investors and the great bunch of ladies that have shown faith in us.

This raise is going to provide the foundations required to build the Nest family even further and we can’t wait to open the doors of our second site thanks to you guys.

The round is still open so if anyone is still interested in joining the Nest family, we’d love to have you.”
