Parents in business: Rachel of Bounce Network

Rachel Brookes, 34, from the Midlands, is a successful entrepreneur who is now using her skills in her role as Network Development Manager for Bounce Network to empower other parents to create a better work and family life balance.

How did you get started?

I came across a work from home business in a box, from a network marketing company and thought, ‘what have I got to lose!’ This was the moment that was set to change my family’s life as over the next few years this entrepreneurial venture paid off and I was able to pay over £60k of debt. Financially back in control, I decided to leave this business, as with debt paid off I felt my job was done, however just a few months later, my husband was made redundant from a career he had had for 15 years and the fear set in again, I thought we can’t go back to that amount of debt again… I need to look for work and my friend contacted me about another opportunity.  My friend’s friend had tragically passed away in an accident, she had had life insurance and this made my group of friends think more about preparing more for the future. My friend Googled where she could get some insurance, and she discovered Bounce and couldn’t stop telling me about this great company she had stumbled across.  I’d always had life insurance, it was a prioritised payment when we were struggling as I thought we couldn’t afford to live then, losing one of us would have made that worse! So, I decided to get involved in Bounce and became a Bouncer.

Bounce is a successful insurance referral network that is providing work from home opportunities to individuals all over the UK. This gave me a full time income in month 1 and has grown steadily since, and in this role I can tap into my desire to support others, educating people, and helping others build up a good income from working part time around their kids.

Now a key member of the management team at Bounce Network delivering training, motivation and inspiration for 10 to 10,000 people across the UK – I am also helping with the global expan-sion of the business, as I value the impact it makes in more ways than one.

My role as Network Development Manager for Bounce Network is to empower other parents to create a better work and family life balance.  I have launched a support community for our 5000  Bouncers. I’ve made friends for life and I would be truly lost without it all! I lift them up when their days are tough, and they lift me up when my days are tough. I help them grow when they feel like they have nothing to give. Doing these things gets me through my tough days too and helps me grow massively!

What has worked well about your business?

I love how my job doesn’t only help people get protected in terms of insurance but also how the network helps people turn their lives around financially, just like I did.

I am a massive advocate of unity and community and use technology to speak to most of my team on a daily basis through Messenger or WhatsApp and I also run a supportive Facebook group full of daily motivation, inspiration, posts and lives.

During the Corona outbreak, I introduced to my community of business owners & friends a 30-minute Zoom each weekday so they can all come together and do some of those all-important non-negotiable actions to help business progress. This has been great for checking in and accountability as we all commit to doing an action that we really need to do that day, to move our business forward – but the social interaction is just as important. We hold space for each other to chat and reflect, similar to the office ‘water cooler chat’ – something I feel we all need, especially in a time of isolation when people need to feel united.  In a time of loneliness, people need to feel ap-preciated and cared for and in a time of uncertainty, people need to feel empowered.

How do you fit in work with the family?

Bounce has enabled me to serve my purpose to continue living debt free, to help others, to work for a company that has the same values as me and that has enable me to be Mum to my 3 young children. It gives me freedom, control and flexibility as well as one of the biggest balls of fire in my belly that I’ve ever known.

I still have to juggle working from home and the work life balance. Having the kids at home full time whilst trying to be a Parent, Teacher, Friend and still super successful in what you do takes creativity, discipline and motivation. I won’t lie. Some days it’s much easier than others but my biggest tip is to be adaptable. Some days may change and that is ok.  Accept it, it makes it easier to push through rather than giving up on your tick list!

I think it’s important to look at your time and things you need to achieve during this new day you are presented with – then take on that challenge with purpose – that excites me.

What impact do you want to have?

Through Bounce, a successful insurance referral network that is providing work from home opportunities to individuals all over the UK, I also support thousands of other mums to fit work around their kids, whilst making a difference to the lives of others – I am a true champion of women supporting women and passionate about helping others achieve their own financial freedom.  I love how my job doesn’t only help people get protected in terms of insurance but also how the network helps people turn their lives around financially, just like I did.

As well as inspiring my network, I also feel drawn to also inspire my own kids and others of their generation, and as part of this mission I have celebrated becoming a best-selling co-author of an International Women’s Day collaboration book, “The Woman I’m Becoming”.  Sharing my story and approach to life, focused around living authentically and speaking your truth, I wanted to be part of a movement to help the next generation of women to have more belief in themselves, as I have seen first-hand how they suffer and have two young daughters myself. I wanted to share that it’s ok to be who you are, it’s ok to have your own thoughts and feelings and to follow your own path.
